Budget Cuts 101 - Jul 23,2008 Updated: 2008-07-23 00:00:00 Description: Taxpayers spoke loudly and clearly when they approved Ammendment #1 earlier this year effectively doubling the Homestead Exemption here in Florida. Now local governments are cutting budgets to the bone in an effort to make ends meet. "Free" money for not-for-profit agencies is a thing of the past. "In-kind services" that previously cost taxpayers will "cost" taxpayers dearly now. Will we have Christmas Parades and 4th of July Fireworks next year? As funding dries up who knows?
